CRYSTAL NAIL FILES...WHAT'S THE DEALIO?

It's been a while since I last did a nail related post so yeah....high time I wrote one!

Crystal nail files...been on the market for a while now but really what is the big deal?

Actually...there are quite a few!

I first bought a crystal nail file about oooo 5 years ago and the first time I used it it felt like running my finger nails down a black board *shudders* Needless to say that pretty much put me off them good a proper.

Well so I thought at the time at least...

As you know I am in the regeneration stage of growing my own nails back after a brief (but so not worth it!) stint of gel nails.

One of the things I invested in was a crystal nail file. There are loads on the market, a giant whopper of a file from Ruby & Millie, a Leighton Dinny one that comes in a ridiculously large case, and a few glass ones here and there.

Anyway...So I've purchased a few. The mini Bourjois one (loved it to begin with as it didn't have that blackboard effect, but has since gone blunt!)...a Sephora glass one which I picked up in NYC (nice but yeah...black board effect and only has one side for filing)...and lastly an Essie one. Hands up we have a winner!

Essie crystal nail files rocks! I'll asmit you do get the blackboard effect for a bit at the beginning but after the second go it's great! love that it gives my nails a nice smooth finish and I haven't had any split nail issues since using it (the smoother crystal surface is much kinder to your nails than the sandpaper effect ones!).

So yes...if you've been put off crystal nail files in the past I would defnitely recommend the Essie one. It's on the pricey side (£12)but it will last a lifetime!

REVIEW: BOOTS EXPERT BUILD UP REMOVAL SHAMPOO

So as some of you may know I have been suffering from pretty grim hair at the moment. I can't decide if it's the boy's shampoo or if it's genuinely because there is something wrong with me. *ponders* I am quite happy to go with option one me thinks *snickers*

So yes...suffering from oily, greasy hair is not the most attractive feature to deal with on a daily basis; so I have taken a leaf out of Zoella's blog and purchased Boots Expert Build Up Removal Shampoo with the hopes that perhaps it's just the awful silicone conditioner build up....
Anyway..WHATEVER it is...it seems to have gone after using this shampoo! HORRAY for none greasy, oily hair. Begone oh so grim roots!
If you purchase now it's buy one get one free so I would highly recommend you try it out if you are suffering from the same terrible condition...it worked for me!

NOTD: OPI CALL YOUR MOTHER (with a blingy twist!)

I'm trying my very best to work my way through the masses of nail polish I bought in NYC (and I really really need to do a haul entry eh?).

One of the many taupy nail polishes I bought was Sephora by OPI's "Call Your Mother".

You see we don't really get many taupe coloured polishes here in the UK, so when opportunity knocks I tend to stock, and this was one of those shades I had read a lot of great reviews on.

Me? "I don't think so!" (I'm listening to a song called "Crash" by Feeder...it's influencing my sentences!)

I digress...I apologise.

Nope..."call your mother" just didn't really do much for me. It's just a tad boring..it was screaming "meh" to me so I decided around 11.38pm to bling it up with a with of swarovski crystals!

Check it out...it's delightfully tacky and I love love LOVE it!

LUSH BATH BALLISTIC...IT'S GOT POPPING CANDY INSIDE!

So I really really LOVE Christmas at Lush. I love the anticipation of seeing what's new and also being reunited with old friends such as my beloved Snowcake soap (buy in bulk!).

During my lunch break yesterday I tottered over to Lush to check the collection out...and immediately I was drawn to a bath ballistic called "Cinders". A quick sniff determined that it was indeed a spicy one so in the basket it went.

Now this ballistic also has popping candy in to give it that fire crackling effect...so yes I was curious to see if this was actually going to happen.

Chucked it in the bath this evening and low and just as I was about to declare it a dud...low and behold by bath starts crackling! Yes ladies and gentlemen it was fantastic! Off the candy went and there I am lying in the bath tub in awe. Lush do come up with some funny ideas and I am particularly loving this one!

Give it a go...go on...it crackles!

REVIEW: SHADOWLINE BY FRONTCOVER COSMETICS

Ever wanted more choice in your liquid eyeliners? Sometimes I really quite fancy a teal green, or a bright in your face kick ass red...but then I can't find what I want on the make up counters...Boo.

SO I was really excited to try this new eyeliner called "Shadowline".

It's basically a clear liquid eyeliner which you sweep over your favourite eyeshadow and it turns it into eyeliner...woo! Needless to say the choice are endless now and I immediately stuck mine into a bright metallic indigo...ooo yeah!

You need to do a few coats if you want a nice even line but once it's set and dry it stays put :)

Check it out:

The shadowline costs £6.95 and you can purchase it from the Frontcover cosmetics website: www.frontcovercosmetics.com

MORE HALLOWEEN PHOTOS (including GOGO!)

You asked for it so here are my photos from last year's Halloween!

I went as Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill...unfortunately it's not the best photo of my outfit but meh! I made the outfit myself, got someone on Etsy to make my school patch, bought a boys navy blazer, the red school tie I bought in Tokyo...and...the
Pièce de résistance...my weapon!

It took me forever to make, comprising of a fancy dress ball and chain, a cut up rubber punk dog collar, a plastic belt, a bottle top to a shower gel, two metres of diy chain, the handle of a brush and a ton of matte silver spray paint!

Whilst I am still in the Halloween mood, here are more from this years:

I paled my face with the Ben Nye wheel I mentioned in my screenface post, and I set it with pale powder.
On my eyes I have Mac's Carbon and gel eyeliner in Blacktrack.
The lashes of course are uber fake...I LOVE lower lashes!

HALLOWEEN 2009!

So how was everyones Halloween?! I decided to go with the bloodied nurse idea in the end and unfortunately didn't get round to even attempting to use the scar wax as I only had half an hour to get ready! So yeah...here is my costume :)

Lastly here is a wig I tried on in the fancy dress shop...I really want it!

HALLOWEEN = SCREENFACE!

Made a mad dash to Screenface in Notting Hill during my lunch break today. Peed that I forgot to take a photo (only ever been to the Covent Garden branch) for you but am sure I will be back there soon!

If you don't know about Screenface, it's basically a professional make up shop. You can find an array of delights there including what I bought today!

I've decided to go as a bloody nurse so this is what I got:

Ben Nye character wheel in red white & black
Ben Nye nose & scar wax
Ben Nye Spirit Gum
Ben Nye spirit gum remover
Sealer
Lower eyelashes
Top eyelashes

I've been inspired by Petriludes dark knight tutorial :)

Wish me luck!

You can visit the Screenface website here:
