Ok maybe I should scratch that title above to say "EOTD" instead...I very rarely take a full facial shot...*furrows brow*
So last night fellow blogger Aquaheart told me about her new contest which is basically to submit a make up look using the colour Aqua. If I had more time I could have gone to town with this one but alas...there is never enough hours in the day!
So a slightly rushed job but here is my entry (just for fun tbh):
Products used:
B Never To Busy To Be Beautiful cream eyeshadow in "Brazened" all over top lid Clarins Single Eye Colour Long Lasting in "Midnight Blue" in crease (this colour is AMAZING...will add proper review v soon). A few blue colours from the 88 Palette. B Never To Busy To Be Beautiful cream eyeshadow in "Bluemer" to line lower lash line Urban Decay liquid eyeliner in "Perversion" to line top lid. Mac Reflects Glitter in "reflects teal" on top lid to give sparkle. Unfortunately not showing up very well in photo!
I recently took a few days holiday (last Thursday to Tuesday) and was SO lucky the weather was amazing!
Besides sleeping, watching True Blood and shopping (bad me!) I also went to Kew Gardens for a little wander...and to snap some photographs for a project I am working on.
Anyway! It was a beautiful day and I came across this pretty little feather:
Oooo PURDY! BUT not as pretty as the bird it came from which I later discovered chilling out on a little hill off one of the beaten tracks:
He was soooo gorgeous...so so stunning and completely oblivious to the fact that I was staring at him in awe. So this beautiful bird got me inspired and I decided to have a go at "peacock eyeshadow". Nope, I didn't draw two colourful giant birds on each eye lid *shakes head*...I merely borrowed the colours ;)
Hope you like it! I really need to play around with the white balance, iso and shutter speed to get better photos...can't really see the colours well enough am afraid:
I used the following products to achieve this look:
Barry M Dazzle Dust (no 25) on top lid. My absolute FAVOURITE green. Nothing beats this and I always get compliments when I wear this colour. SOOO pretty! Gosh Loose eyeshadow in "Kiwi" on top lid. Benefit shimmer powder in "pistachio" in inner eye. Lily Lolo mineral eyeshadow in Indigo in crease and around lower lash. B Never Too Busy To B Beautiful cream eyeshadow in "Bluemer" on lower lash line. Urban Decay liquid eyeliner in "perversion" to line top lid.
All this followed with lashings of black mascara on top lashes and blue on the bottom :)
So during my lunchbreak Superdrug beckoned to me and of course I was only happy to oblige.
I like my little lunch time make up circuit. My work colleague I swear must think me mad as we frequent the same stores far too often every SINGLE WEEK!
All that aside today my make up radar honed in on the new Revlon collection and it's PURPLE!
*punches air*
They have added a few new lippies to the Super Lustrous range and I picked up "Va Va Violet" and "Sultry Sable".
Both are incredibly vampy and I don't think I would recommend either of these shades to anyone with small lips...dark colours have a tendency to make lips look smaller than normal. Check out the photos below:
Va Va Violet:
Sultry Sable:
I think i prefer Va Va Violet out of the two, but either of them make me look like a vamp...not that I am complaining mind...*twinkle in eyes*
Lastly I also bought this beautiful deep purple nail polish called "Plum Night". Photo doesn't do it justice but it is a very deep, dark, damn near black shade.
But it's not black :P It's just that little bit classier than black. The best way I can describe it is like this...if the fang bangers in Fantasia wear black nail polish, then the true vampires would wear this *nods*.
Geez I am getting slightly True Blood OBSESSED...*pulls face*
And on that note I shall finish here and retire to my Sookie Stackhouse novels for the rest of the evening ;)
I am really excited about writing this entry tonight as I absolutely HEART this eyeshadow.
Last week I got my mitts on a lovely Lily Lolo mineral eye colour in "Indigo".
My word, it is simply STUNNING.
As you may already know I have quite a seductive relationship with purple eyeshadow, second only after green. I think purple is the perfect shade to compliment my oh so boring brown eyes and it also works wonderfully as a good smokey eye ;)
BUT! This is Indigo we're talking about. A gloriously blue/purple shade in wonderful metallic form. *examines and admires swatch on hand* The swatch on the website really doesn't do it justice.
I mixed it with a mixing medium to get an even bolder colour (see swatch on left). Swatch on right is the eyeshadow dry.
The mineral eyeshadows come in loose form and a little goes a long way with great staying power. What I love most about them is the butter like texture (if you could even say such a thing and make sense mind), but it just effortlessly glides onto the skin. So soft and super fine milled. I wrote about Lily Lolo earlier in the year but just to recap, they are a UK based mineral make up company where synthetics are most definitely OUT and natural goodness is IN. Perfect for those who have sensitive skin and really care about what their make up contains i.e no chemical nasties. They are also animal friendly too :)
A mineral eye colour costs £5 and comes in a variety of natural as well as BRIGHT AND BOLD colours.
Aye, I decided to follow up on Lollipop26's blog post and share with you my current "go to" products :) I love these posts and I hope you enjoy reading this one.
SO! Let us commence!
Shampoo: I switch between Aromatherapy Associates Balance shampoo and the CHI Silk Bath shampoo.
Conditioner: Aromatherapy Associates Balance conditioner, Tresemme or Fudge (I like to have a few conditioners on the go at once!).
Styling products: I very rarely use any styling products apart from Chi Silk Infusion. As it's got hot again I also use a heated hair protector and my current product of choice is an Estee Lauder one. My hair is long and definitely needs help in this heat.
Shower Gel: Again I have a few running together! Lush "Happy for Sad" and Clarins "Tonic Bath & Shower Concentrate" (I LOVE this Clarins range, smells SO divine!).
Body moisturiser: I'm using some Boots No7 cellulite cream on the bumpy bits and then The Sanctuary's body oil spray everywhere else. Oh and also Lush's "King of Skin" body butter :)
Deodorant: Michum powder fresh roll on.
Fake Tan: EEEEEEEEEEE NO NO NO! NO tan!
Cleanser: bane of my life at the moment. My skin has totally screwed itself up after using Dermalogica's Ultra Calming cleanser. Am now using Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish to hopefully get it back on track *fingers crossed*.
Exfoliator: a Boots micro exfoliant one
Primer: I don't use one. never have! Probably will invest in one in NYC but my face is so sensitive that i try to limit the layers I slap on it.
Foundation brush: Mac 188 brush, the smaller one as its a much better size for me to play with.
Concealer: Clarins concealor stick is super slim and handy and takes residence in my purse *nods* I like the smooth texture of this product and it's not drying like some concealor sticks out there.
Blusher: Mac "Dame" is my favourite as it's a builder upper, meaning you can never apply too much of this.
Bronzer: Don't really do bronzer but I love my Mac mineralised redhead product. Might get the Barry M one as I have heard good things about it!
Highlighter: Benefit's Moonbeam is my absolute favourite but I also have a little tube of Highbeam in my purse and I also use Mac Lustre Drops but I think it's not as good.
Eyeshadow base: Too Faced Shadow Insurance hands down.
Eyeshadows: I have a TON but I can guarantee I will use Mac "vapour" every week (to pair with my red lips). Last week I used Clarins "dark blue", Mac "carbon", Lily Lolo "indigo" (AMAZING!) ermmm...far too many to mention!
Eyeliner: MAC Fluidline in BlackTrack (need this for a smokey eye!), Urban Decay liquid liner in "perversion".
Curler: Talika heated eyelash curlers.
Mascara: erugh, don't get me started. Right now "Gosh's lift N shape". Still trying to find my HG of waterproof mascaras...
Lipstick: Mac "Mac Red" is my HG red, Mac "Bare" slimshine, Clarin's "Simply Nude", and of course Revlon's "Cherries in the Snow". I wear all of these every week.
Lipgloss: Sleek Wonderlast Gloss in "Purity" and "Berry Blush" seem to be the regulars. I also love my Nars "eros" gloss.
Nail Colour: Cannot stop raving over China Glaze's "Purple Panic Neon" and currently wearing OPI's "You Don't Know Jacques" as my finger nails are stumpy. Dying to try my Zoya polish in "casey" too but waiting for naisl to be longer. Don't want to draw even more attention to the stumps!
Yep, apologies again for the influx of nail related blog posts. This will dominate my beauty regime for ages am afraid!
Anyway, as promised here is part 2 of my nail haul. I pretty much bought everything Scrangie mentioned on her nail care must haves post and also threw in the "Solar Balm" as this is perfect for when I am on the tube or bus, no potential spills with this baby! Plus another bottle of Solar Oil as I am churning through my old bottle super fast.
I am really loving the CND cuticle eraser and to me it smells of Lemon Sherbet sweets (like the kind Dumbledore loves). I LIKE the scent! For someone who NEVER use to use cuticle products I am slapping this stuff on religiously. Like I said, better flipping well work!
I am also loving immensely the "nail eat" product I mentioned previously. It really makes a difference to my weak thinning nails and I definitely prefer it to OPI's nail envy for making my nails feel strong.
In general my natural nails seem to be doing ok. I think I might start slapping on the "Nai Stimulator" product I bought on a few of my nails as they are pretty stumpy. Nicht so gut!
I have made Solar Oil/balm a part of my daily maintenance now along with CND cuticle eraser and a fresh coat of nail eat.
I just want to start seeing some nice healthy nails again...and preferably long strong ones!
However, there is one thing I miss about my about my gel nails. Chip free nail polish. *sigh* Still, I guess I could grow use to changing my nail polish colour more often.
If you have any nail care tips you want to throw my way please share! I am a deseperate lady with three stumpy finger nails!
As you must all know by now I am a fanatic Lush devotee!
However, it wasn't always this way. In fact I can shamefacedly say that I was once one of those who proclaimed "OMG it REEKS in here!".
Thankfully I have amended my ways and have since been a devote follower of all things Lush.
Anyway, Lush are renown for their bath ballistics, you know the round balls that you chuck in water and fizz! So here are my top 10 ballistics:
1) BIG BLUE
Hands down my absolute FAVOURITE! I love the way it turns the bath water blue and scatters seaweed in yout tub. Always makes me think a few fish should be swimming in my bath tub :) ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE!
2) ULURU
Yep...that's Ayers Rock to those who don't know the aboriginal name of it. I have NO idea why Lush ever discontinued this but THANKFULLY it's in the "retro" section of the website so you can mail order this. Amazingly fresh and citrus fragranced ballistic that turns the water a lovely summery colour ;)
3) ALL THAT JAS
Another retro Lush but it smells sooooo devine and Jasmine is suppose to be an aphrodisiac...Oooo ehhh! Florally without being too girly. A really lovely unique ballistic well worth trying out.
4) SAKURA
This ballistic is the only one I think that lingers on the skin well after you've stepped out of the bath. It's a difficult one to describe but I guess it's florally but pretty fresh at the same time. Definitely try this one. It's girly hands down!
5) BUTTERBALL
Smaller in size but super moisturising! Definitely under rated but has obviously stood the test of time has it's still going strong! Smells sweet and packed full of cocoa butter chips that melt on contact with hot water. Devine!
6) FAIRY JAS
Technically not in the regular to buys and not in the retro section but you can be sure it will resurface at Xmas. This is the one PACKED with irredescent glitter. I love this. Makes me feel like Tinkerbell! Watch out for it at Xmas!
7) THE SICILIAN
If you like citrus, fresh fragrances then this is the ballistic for you! Part of the retro range it is well worth trying out!
8) VANILLA FOUNTAIN
This is the odd shaped ballistic that is just wonderful for those who love their girly sweet scented fragrances. A regular in stores so don't worry about postal services!
9)TISTY TOSTY
The heart shaped romantic rose scented ballistic. A CLASSIC one that has more than stood the test of time. Comes with 7 rose buds which is part of some ancient spell (check website for full explaination!)
10) HAPPY PILL
Fresh and vibrant this ballistic is for those who are feeling a tad low. Chuck this in the bath on a Friday night and feel the benefits of a lovely positively relaxing experience!
So these are mine, now what about yours? What are your favourite Lush ballistics? Please share and let me know!
Day off work = rooting through my mum's make up stash *grins*
She has a tendency to horde things and her dressing table is loaded with lipsticks, perfumes...*happy sigh* I have very fond memories of myself as a child and testing everything I could get my little hands on.
So yes, I had a little root through, mostly as I was curious if she had any Diorific lippies I could pinch (bingo I found two and one a red no less!)...but I was also fascinated at all the ancient lipsticks she had. The packaging is what got me, check out the old Dior and Clinique for example:
But then I came across something more fascinating. I mean TRULY facinating! My mum showed me one of her old mascaras from wayyyyy back in the day which she kept as she adored the packaging so much.
Now check out the WAND on this: It's CRAZY! A metal mascara wand! Blown away by this I am *nods*.
The brand that made this is Helena Rubinstein and the mascara is called "Long Lash". Am sorely tempted to give the wand a major antibacterial clean and test it out on one of my mascaras.
Shall I? Shall I?
Course I am going to.
FAR too curious I am ;)
UPDATE: Checked the HR website out and you're right Patricia, they are selling this product! So strange that absolutely nothing has changed about this product after all these years. Click here to visit the HR website
If I'm honest I very rarely view any of the videos on the Mac YouTube channel in favour of the DIY beauty gurus. From the view count on the Mac channel it looks like I'm not the only one!
I however, am pleased to say I am looking forward to the forthcoming "Style Black" collection. I went through a very gothic punk phase when I was a teenager and I still do have a little fondness for dark vampy make up *pouts*
Let's hope it's just as appealing in real life!
Are you looking forward to any of the new Mac collections? Let me know!
I apologise in advance if this blog goes a bit "nail treament" crazy over the next few weeks. If you follow me on Twitter you will know I have been pretty bummed out about having my gel nails removed. Natural nails are not looking too great so I am very determined to fix them and grow long natural talons :)
Since Friday I think I have read a bazillion blog entries on Nail Care Must Haves, watched a TON of YouTube videos on how to grow amazing nails and more importantly, invested in as many nail treatments that I can get my mitts on!
I don't know if you've read Scrangie's blog but she has THE most amazing nails. So amazing that I thought they were fake at first. She has an entry on her MUST have items which is basically what I have been buying up (with the exception of the "nail food system" of which I got suckered in by the video on the nail care club website...)
So tonight is part one of my Nail Treatment Haul (second one to follow tomorrow as I ordered more treatments from the one website and want to blog about them all together).
Here is what I've got so far: Since Friday I have been using my old bottle of OPI Nail Envy and tried to follow the 10 day treatment. It just FLAKES and CHIPS though so how the heck am I suppose to endure it eh?
Soooo tonight I've moved onto the "nail food system" which dries impressively fast and makes my nails feel much stronger than Nail Envy. Whether it works is yet to be determined!
I also purchased the Qtica Intense Cuticle Repair (for night time use) and the Qtica Nail Growth Stimulator (for after my course of nail food).
I ordered these items on Sunday from the website www.nailcareclub.com which is UK based (horray no custom charges!) and was really surprised and happy when not only was the delivery fast but I also received some freebies with my order which included two Zoya nail polishes!
I've read a lot about this brand but never purchased them (can't get them in UK stores) so I am very excited to try them. OK so maybe the brown shade might not be to my preference but meh! Twas free ;)
Note: If you want to order the Qtica Natural nail Growth Stimulator from the Nail Care Club website use this code to receive a FREE tube of Qtica Solid Gold Cuticle Oil: QT JA0901
See, I'm a girly who likes her nude lipsticks to be "natural". I want a nice lip colour that will compliment any eyeshadow I decide to paint my lids with. Something unobtrusive, something neutral but above all NATURAL.
My skin tone doesn't suit the likes of Barry M's 101 or the Gosh Darling lipstick. I look like I've slapped on maximum block sunscreen on my lips and am about to hit the slopes *nods*.
SO I was very excited when I got my mitts on a few Clarins lipsticks to try and one in particular stood out and has taken pride of place in my Mulberry Roxanne.
I heart Clarin's Joli Rouge in "Simply Nude".
What I love about this lipstick is that it's incredibly flattering. It is exactly what a nude lipstick (in my humble opinion) should be. It's a subtle sheer wash of colour but has enough pigment to block out the natural pink of my lips. It's not imposing and it doesn't scream faux nude. It beams "natural"!
I also love the consistency of this lippy as it is so smooth and glossy. It feels wonderfully moisturising and I can apply it without the hassle of lip lining first! Splendid!
Below photos show my natural lip colour, and then with "simply nude".
Yep...told you it was subtle and I like it :)
If nude lipsticks usually = "porn star on ski slope", give this lippy a try for sheer subtle loveliness!
I've been using this cream for a while ever since my best friend Helen recommended it to me.
See, over the years I've realised Helen and I have very different skin types. She recommended me the Biore warming face cleanser. This was the worst cleanser I have ever tried but it worked for her. She's recommended lots of things which I can't remember off the top of my head but none of them ever agreed.
That is until I tried the Neals Yard Frankincense Nourishing Cream.
I LOVE THIS STUFF!
Upon first application I thought "yikes this is very heavy stuff". It also seemed to sit on your skin, as oppose to sink in straight away so you kind of feel like you have a thin film on your skin.
Least it's not a "glider". Glider is my term given to creams that just slide all over your face and that's about it. Think watery. Think..."meh".
Anyway I digress. I applied it as a night cream and the next morning my skin felt so soft! I'll even go so far as to say it LOOKED noticably different. More awake.
Then during the day I thought, maybe I'm just being generous with my thoughts.
I've been using this cream for the last month and I still adore it. It's wonderful! The indredients are natural and the scent is like incense...that would be the frankincense then!
If you suffer from dry skin that needs a good moisture injection then I would highly recommend this product. One 50g jar will set you back £17.80 but the pot will last you for ages as you only need a slither to coat your whole face :) Click here to read more on the Neals Yard website
So as you know, my original nail salon closed down and went into administration. Good bye OPI gel nails, Good bye champagne!
Since then I went to get my nails infilled once at another salon but the general upkeep and not having a good nail salon on my doorstep (with a wicked discount) has since led me to the conclusion that they simply HAD to come off.
I decided to go to Nails Inc in Westfield as they are a pretty reputable nail salon here in the UK. They also don't use that awful scary dremel tool thing which has been something I have always been keen to avoid.
So yes, today after work I went to have them removed.
You see, I had hard gels applied at Dr Russo. I didn't know that there were such thing as hard and soft gel nails.
Hard nails are a b***h to remove. You have to have them gently filled down and then they use an orange stick to gently pry the rest off. I say gently as any force will cause more damage to your original nail.
Thankfully I hadn't had infills done for almost two months (gels tend to have less of a "step" than acrylics so the grow out isn't so horrific), so half of my nails were gel and half natural. This meant less time was taken up removing them.
Cut a long story shortish...MY NATURAL NAILS SUCK!
Ok maybe that's a bit harsh as the left hand is not too bad actually, nails feel weak but bearable.
But the RIGHT. Eurgh, nails are soooo thin and weak (see photo above, the grey areas show how thin they really are). Esp my index finger which had to be filed down to a yucky stump. The tinest of pressure and they bend.
I knew they were going to be awful as when I had my gels on I could see how paper thin my real nails were underneath. I could literally see through them they were so transparent.
So yeah...*sighs*
Would I recommend hard gel nails? They look fab and keep nail polish on for an age and you can grow your nails long. But making your natural nails strong, nope. I don't think I will be getting hard gels again.
Soft gels on the other hand sound fab. Biosculpture is the brand and no filing of nails is needed and removal is done with acetone. From what the Nails Inc lady told me it sounds like a much better alternative.
All that being said though I decided against getting soft gels applied and have gone aux natural.
This does mean a new challenge for me though. I have bought every flipping nail strengthening, cuticle fixing, nail nourishing product I can get my hands on. Well the ones Scrangie mentioned in her blog and SHE has the most amazing natural nails.
So yes...apologies for the mass of text but thought it was important for those considering gel nails to know all this info.
Watch this space for blog entries about my quest for perfect nails. Am quite excited at the idea of growing long strong nails so yes!
I am SO excited! Just booked a trip to New York next month! WOOO!
I've always wanted to go to the Big Apple and am in dire need of a decent holiday with my last being Tokyo two flipping years ago!
Needless to say there will be LOTS of make up haulage, in fact the boy said to me, "are you going to do my head in? Can't you buy make up in the UK?"
Hmmmm had to explain the wonder that is Sephora. Last one I went to was down Hollywood Blvd and I spent ages in there. Poor boy...he will have to be patient with me but we are going for his birthday so can't make him suffer toooo much *smirks to self*
So, tonights question is simple.
Can you recommend any make up stores in NYC that I simply MUST visit?!
If you're feeling particularly chatty any recommendations for NYC in general would be great. Good places to see, places to eat, places to go out in the evening...any help would be MUCH appreciated :)
Super quick blog post tonight as I am once again playing catch up with sleep...boo!
Has anyone purchased anything from the new Mac collections? I'm still not really feeling them. Sure I'll go in to my local Mac store on the first Thursday of every month to check them out, but nothing has really grabbed me.
It's sad. I like having that Mac fix every month. I'll wander into the Mac Pro store a few times a month but I get put off by the MUAs there...meh.
Anyway, this month I did have my heart set on getting some of the Pearlglide eye liners from the "Love That Look" collection, but upon closer inspection, although incredibly appealing...I decided against them.
Check out the swatches here:
Left to right: Black Russian, Molasses, Fly-by-Blu, Rave
They do look better in real life especially Fly-by-Blu and Rave, but for £12 I decided I could achieve this look with loose pigment over black kohl *nods*
They are incredibly soft and far better than the Urban Decay 24/7 liners but I'm trying to be good this month (and next) with my money.
Why?
Because I am going to New York next month! WOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Hope you had a good weekend! For once it was sunny in London...woohoo!
So technically more of an "Eyes of the Day" entry but mew.
On Saturday I went out for dinner with one of my good friends and decided to wean myself off the "liquid black liner & red lippy" combo I've been adopting in favour of some COLOUR.
Oh yeah...she dabbled with the Ben Nye palette!
What I used:
Ben Nye: Cosmic Blue all over top lid and a smudge on lower lash line(from the Grande Lumiere palette) Inglot: navy blue eyeshadow in corners and lower lash line(similar to Mac Contrast) Mac: Carbon eyeshadow in the corners Pop glitter: taken from the 10 piece pop glitter set. Mac: Blacktrack fluid line on lower lash line Gosh: Perfect Lift N Shape mascara
Left to Right: Mac Russian Red, Mac Red, Mac So Scarlet (ltd ed), Revlon Cherries In The Snow, Christian Dior Rouge Bingo and B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful Boudoir.
Red Lipsticks....trying to find the perfect one can be an absolute nightmare. In fact, I never use to wear red lippy because of this but the last few years I have slowly but surely found my favourites.
Check out the above. First off, I love Russian Red but I can't say it's my absolute favourite as I find it quite a drying lipstick and this grates me a bit.
My HG of red lipsticks has to be MAC red. It's perfect in every way. Glides on, stays pretty much put and feels light on the lips. I've noticed the Rouge Bingo I bought last week is very similar but the consistency is quite glossy so it tends to bleed and reapplying is a MUST. See swatches below: So Scarlet use to be my HG as it's a wonderful vampy, smexy red that's perfect to take into Autumn. I say "use" to be as it's limited edition so breaking up this love affair had to happen sooner than later and replacing it with a constant seemed only fair!
Although technically not a red RED, I've included Cherries In The Snow as everytime I wear this shade I get compliments, both from boys and girls. It's an extremely flattering and glamorous colour and stays put for a long time. I heart this lipstick so so much!
Which brings me to "Boudoir". This is from the Lush cosmetics brand "B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful". I bought this shade because it looked so stunning on all the assistants in the store but in reality it is very drying. VERY. Mix it up with some lip balm to get it going. Smells of roses though which is very yummy! I've included this, but not sure if I would recommend it...*ponders* It's just the negatives is that it's expensive and also goes off in a short space of time. Natural products for ya!
Whoa...lot's of text to read tonight.Hope it wasn't too much! I'll write about my favourite red lip glosses next time me thinks.
My brother's girlfriend showed me these beauties a few weeks ago and I absolutely ADORE THEM!
Unfortunately they are only available from The House of Barbie in SHANGHAI CHINA but she managed to get her mitts on them because she use to work for the company that did the designs *sigh* Am pink with envy :P
One is a concealer set and the other a pink eyeshadow. Both are double stacked and uber cute and compact. I'd love to add them to my make up collection.
Anyway, quick post but thought I would share this girly gushiness for packaging love with you!
The lady is incredible and everything about her style and beauty is just spot on. She oozes classy glamour *happy sigh*
In a showbiz world where everyone seems to look the same I think Dita is in a wonderful, timeless class of her own. I LOVE IT!
So yes, tonight I am dedicated a blog entry to her as I have been discovering some lovely beauty products from her Tweets.
In the past few days Ms Teese has shared with us the following:
* Hair Dye = Garnier 100% Colour in Blue/Black * Foundation = L'Oreal True Match N1 * Desert Island red lippy = Russian Red by Mac * Red Nail Polish = Mac Rouge Marie & Essie Fishnet Stockings
She has also mentioned getting her mitts on a Christian Dior Diorific red lippy called "Rouge Bingo".
As you may have gathered I am a sucker for red lipstick so this is exactly what I hunted down in my lunch break!
I must confess, I haven't bought a Dior lipstick in an AGE with the last one also being a Diorific called "Brun Big Bang".
Yeah...I kinda liked coppery shades a while back...*twiddles thumbs*
ANYWAY! Slapped this lippy on and I LOVE IT! It glides on delightfully and it's not as bright and bold as my Mac Red (which is my HG red btw).
I think this would be a good starter red lippy *nods like that line made sense* I think tomorrow I shall write an entry about Rouge Lips...*ponders* Yes...I think I shall definitely do that. It's so hard to find the perfect red!
Dita is also performing in Paris next month so I am hoping to go along to one of her shows *squeals* Never seen her live before and Paris just seems THE perfect place!
I am shattered this evening due to the following irritations:
1) a spider crawling around in my bedroom, the kind that crawls above your head and slips a lot *shudders*
2) scary scrapping noise coming from outside at 4am...sounded like someone was burying a body although in all honesty probably was just a fox.
*sigh*
So yes...MUTTERINGS!
MAC NEW RELEASES - graphic garden, love that look, baby bloom, euristocrats 2
Tomorrow it's new releases day for Mac stores although everything is on the website already. I might get a pearl glide eyeliner but nothing really has me excited...how bout you? I use to really look forward to Mac releases but since Hello Kitty, nothing has really griped me! It feels very recycled lately and I think that's a huge shame.
CHINA GLAZE - Purple Panic Nail Polish
I keep getting complimented on this shade. It's truly an AMAZING colour and I think everyone should have this *nods*
FALSE NAILS - they are coming off!
I think my gels are going to have to come off. I really love having them on but now my usual place is closed I can't justify spending £35 a time to have them infilled. This does mean I can set myself a lot of natural nail challenges and try and grow the perfect set! Quite sadly excited about this...
HYPERPIGMENTATION
I have a rather annoying brown spot on my cheek just below my left eye. It's really started to steal the limelight in photos and I think it's about time I tackle it. Can anyone recommend a good product for this?
Hmmm...I think I shall leave it there. My brain is seriously running on empty and is crying for some serious Zzzz's.
Forgive me!
Before I leave here is a photo of what my nails have been like for the last week. I used OPI's Brand New Skates as a base and my ancient Silver Mac polish to do the Konad stamping with. Hope you like!
Apologies for the sparse blogs the last few days, been a busy weekend but I am once again reunited with my MacBook :)
Tonight I thought I'd review the new Sleek Make Up iDivine palette called "curious". I really loved the Safari palette that came out previously so was "curious" (pardon the pun!) to try this new one too.
As you know I am very partial to my Mac products but what drew me to Sleek is the fact that they have bright colours too. Check them out:Ooo purdy! Am tres excited to play with this all week! I am particularly into the greeny olive colour and the deep purple, they are quite special indeed. All the colours seem to compliment each other and I like the fact that there is a charcoal included so I can do a nice smokey eye too :)
What I love most about this palette is the fact that it only cost £4.88 for 12 colours and the pigmentation of them is fab (excluding the yellow but I won't be using that colour anyway). The pans are quite soft so you just need to wave a brush over them lightly to pick the colour up.
I also like the fact that it's a slim and compact palette that I can slip into my bag without having to lug a bazillion single ones around *bonus points added*
My only gripe with it is the fact that there are four greeny/blue colours. I think it would have been nice to have a pink one in there too...something to mix it up a bit.
If you haven't tried a palette I would definitely recommend grabbing one next time you're in Superdrug, esp the Safari one. The greens inside this are AMAZING. I really want to get the Original and Storm ones next.
And I must repeat under a £5 for all this! Credit Crunch tastic! I generally think "you get what you pay for", i.e bad pigmentation etc but I have been pleasantly surprised and impressed with the Sleek range. Just goes to show it doesn't always have to be high brand, OTT pricing to get something that will make you FABULOUS! Visit the Sleek Make Up website here
Have you tried a Sleek iDivine palette? What did you think?
Just read Lollipop26's blog and thought I would put my two pence worth into the mix. That and the fact that I am away from home at the moment so all my photos/products are not to hand!
SO let us commence...
1) Benefit Dr Feel Good I bought this a few years ago as there was such a buzz over this product. I was hoping that it would do everything it said on the tin but alas no...it clogged my pores instead and gave me major blemishes...
2) Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Wheat A make up artist recommended this to me once (I use to work in music and take photos at video shoots). She said this product was a great primer and give crease free eyeshadow. It didn't and it was a pricey little number too!
3) MUFE HD powder My skin felt suffocated on first application. I've never used it since. Felt to synthetic and un natural for me.
4) Gosh Lipstick in Darling See, I really wanted to fall in love with this product like everyone else has but I am instead in love with Mac's Slimshine Bare! Darling is just too pale for me!
I really could go on and on but I've got to peg it out of the flat again. Sorry I've not wrote as much as I would have liked the last few days!
